False Claim #7 (continued): “When local elections are moved to November, local participation is 49% higher."
TRUTH: This unsubstantiated claim, obviously a reference to the general election turnout for high offices like president, congress, and governor, is not a local election statistic. There is no conclusive evidence that local election turnout increases when those elections are moved to November. And while the One Village One Vote campaign relies on national statistics with only a small sample of local turnout statistics to create their narrative, The Keep Our Vote campaign offers a full 24 year analysis specific to Ridgewood Local elections. Also, please note that Ridgewood local election turnout statistics for 2010, 2011, and 2013 reported on the One Village One Vote website are not accurate and lower than the actual turnout statistics recorded by the Bergen County Clerk.
